Description

A crispy and flavorful blooming onion made in an air fryer.


Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the onion to create petals, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg.
  5. Dredge the onion in the flour mixture, then dip in the buttermilk mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Place the onion in the air fryer basket.
  7. Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
